Great Bare Mat App

The Great Bare Mat App is an artist book project designed for the iPad. It is an immersive experience, which will introduced you to the work of the Raqs Media Collective for the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Boston. Explore highlights from the 2012 exhibition at the museum, source materials, related conversations and talks and videos, listen to audio and read the stories behind the artworks.

This app was conceived by the Raqs Media Collective (Jeebesh Bagchi, Monica Narula and Shuddhabrata Sengupta) and Pieranna Cavalchini (The Tom and Lisa Blumenthal Curator of Contemporary Art at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum) and designed in collaboration with Isabel Meirelles (Boston based information designer).

This application and The Great Bare Mat & Constellation exhibition catalogue were made possible in part by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The Raqs Media Collective’s residency at the Gardner was supported in part by The Nimoy Foundation, The Thomas A. Pappas Charitable Foundation, and The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts. The Museum receives operating support from The Massachusetts Cultural Council.
